OmniPanchang shows the Hindu panchang and Vedic astrology for your city. Most of the site works without an account and without anything about you being stored. This page says exactly what we do collect, and why.
Who we are
OmniPanchang (omnipanchang.com, “we”) is responsible for the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, including grievances under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, write to [email protected].
Using the site without an account
We do not ask who you are. To make the site work we use:
- Your approximate location. Cloudflare, which delivers the site, tells us the approximate coordinates of your internet connection so we can suggest your nearest city. We use them for that request only and do not store them.
- The city and zodiac sign you choose, remembered in your browser so you don’t have to pick them again (see Cookies and storage).
- Your display settings (12 or 24-hour clock, month convention, chart style, light or dark), kept only in your browser.
- Your IP address, held for about ten seconds to stop automated abuse of our search and data endpoints, and processed by Cloudflare to deliver and protect the site.
Birth details for a kundli or match
To draw a kundli or check compatibility you give a date, time and place of birth, and optionally a name and gender. We use them only to compute the result.
- When you are not signed in, we do not save them to any account or database. To make repeat requests fast, the computed chart, which includes the birth details, is kept in our server cache for up to 24 hours and then deleted. It is filed under a one-way fingerprint rather than under your details, so the cache cannot be searched by date or place.
- The link to your result carries your details in encrypted form inside the link itself, so that you can share it. It stops working after 24 hours. Anyone you share the link with can see the result while it works.
If you create an account
Accounts are optional and are for people aged 18 or over. Sign-in is handled by WorkOS. We receive and store:
- your email address, your name if you give one, and whether your email is verified;
- your preferences (language, ayanamsa, chart style);
- the charts you choose to save. Their birth details are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM); the chart name you type is stored as you entered it.
How we use it
Only to provide the service you ask for: computing panchang, muhurta, kundli and compatibility results; remembering your choices; keeping your saved charts; and keeping the site secure and available.
We do not show advertising, we do not build profiles of you, and we do not sell or share your personal information. If we ever add advertising or analytics, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it, and update this page before we do.
Legal bases (EU and UK)
- Your account and saved charts: to perform our agreement with you.
- Security, abuse prevention and short-term caching: our legitimate interest in running a safe, fast service.
- Anything optional we later ask you to agree to: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of providers, each only for the job listed:
- Cloudflare: delivers and protects the site, and provides approximate location (worldwide network).
- WorkOS: sign-in and account management (United States).
- UpCloud: hosts our servers and their backups (Frankfurt, Germany).
Our fonts are served from our own servers; no other third party receives your data when you visit. Where data leaves your country, we rely on these providers’ data processing terms, which include safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
- Birth details without an account: up to 24 hours in our server cache; the result link expires after 24 hours.
- IP addresses for abuse prevention: about ten seconds.
- Saved charts: until you delete them or your account.
- Your account: until you delete it. Deletion is immediate: your saved data is deleted and your account record is stripped of your email, name and sign-in identity.
- Server logs: they never record birth details or the location in a request, and are rotated automatically and kept only briefly.
- Backups: our host keeps daily backups for 7 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within 7 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, receive a copy, delete it, or withdraw consent. You can delete your account and saved charts yourself at any time (see Delete your data). For anything else, email [email protected]; we answer within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to your data protection authority, such as the Data Protection Board of India, your EU supervisory authority, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are for people aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Our servers accept connections only from Cloudflare, and saved birth details are encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Changes to this page
When we change how we handle personal data we update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell signed-in users before they take effect.
