We take great care that every number on this site is right, and we check our calculations against published sources. Please read our results with these points in mind.
How results are calculated
Sunrise, tithi, nakshatra and every other timing is computed for your city’s coordinates and time zone using the Swiss Ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsa, and tested against published panchangs and classical texts. How we calculate explains the method.
Traditions and almanacs differ
Regions and families follow different conventions: amanta or purnimanta months, the Vishuddha or Surya Siddhanta schools, Smarta or Vaishnava fasting days, and local rules for when a festival is observed. A printed almanac may give a different day from ours and both can be right by their own rule. Where we know of a difference, the page says so.
For ceremonies, ask your priest
Muhurta and festival timings are a guide. For weddings, griha pravesh, upanayanam and other ceremonies, confirm the time with your family priest, who can account for your family’s tradition.
Astrology is interpretation
Kundli, compatibility and horoscope results follow classical rules, but their meaning is traditional interpretation, not a prediction of events. Horoscopes are general to a sign, not personal readings.
